I started my martial arts career in Winnipeg by
practicing at Black Dragon Kung Fu under David
Cliffe in 1986.  There I also studied with Patrick Kelly,
Tang Yulan, and Carl Wei.  I moved to Sharon,
Pennsylvania in 1996, after graduating from the
University of Manitoba to study with Master Nick
Gracenin.  

Under Master Gracenin, I studied both modern and
traditional Wushu and was able to travel to Beijing in
1999 to study at the Beijing University of Physical
Education and again in 2001 to study at the Shi Sha
Hai and practice with members of the Beijing Team.

In my Wushu career I have been also very fortunate
to study (mostly in semi-formal seminars) with some
of the most talented Wushu masters both in North
America and in China.

They include my classmates, Jose Johnson, Joel
Timmons, and some of my teacher's close friends
such as He Wei Qi, Li Pei Yun, An Tian Rong, Xia Bo
Hua, Sun Yong Tian, and Zeng Nai Lian.  I have also
been fortunate to study with Andrea Falk, Paule
Bertrand, Michael Li, Xu Gon Wei, Chen Zhong Hua,
and my friend Ronnie Yee.

My most grateful thanks goes to my Sifu, Master Nick
Gracenin, who has been one of the greatest
influences on my life and on the Wushu community
in general.  Xie Xie Shifu!
