Presently we have three major areas of instruction, Changquan (longfist), Nanquan (southern fist), and
Taijiquan (Tai Chi). All of these programs also include their own unique weaponry. Students must select
early on, one short and one long weapon for study. Students later can experiment with more exotic
weapons like the three section staff or nine section whip. Likewise, other styles of hand forms can be
explored after a basic level of skill has been developed. Some of these styles include Xingyi, Baqua, and
Tiger.
Nanquan (Southern Fist), comes from
the southern parts of China. It is known
for its power. Nanquan training
emphasizes and develops strong stance
work and upper body power.
Changquan (long fist), comes from the
northern part of China. It is known for
its acrobatics. Changquan training
develops speed, agility, and flexibility.
Taijiquan (grand ultimate fist), is a part
of Chinese martial arts known as
internal boxing (neijiaquan). It is
known for its health and relaxation
benefits. Taiji training develops waist
power, balance, and strenghthens the
postural muscles of the body. Our
program also offers other styles of
internal martial arts with special focus
on Fu Style.
